50th Birthday Party Ideas

Turning 50 in the 21st century means something altogether different than it meant in the 20th century.  Advances in technology, medicine and thinking have made the 50th birthday seem younger than ever. Use these 50th birthday party ides to embrace your golden time!

Take a trip down memory lane. Sure, you might take the traditional route and ask guests to bring photos or give you some keepsake that reminds you of how you met or places you used to go. Or, you could step things up a bit and actually revisit some of your old haunts. This will provide you with some nostalgia, but it also allows you to take a look around you and remember why you don’t visit those places anymore.

For instance, you might go to a place where you went on your first date and remember how your date opened the door for you, all while trying to figure out why the men out there now can’t seem to keep their pants on.

Try something new. Isn’t there something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t quite got around to? Why not have a breakfast birthday celebration before you go on your adventure. Think big! Go skydiving, parasailing, caving or just take a trip to a city you’ve always wanted to visit.

Have a makeover party or a day at the spa. As we get older, we get more comfortable in our routines. In fact, we get downright stubborn about them. Shake off the trends of yesterday and let someone else polish you up for a night out on the town.

Do some exploring. You’ve probably worked all your life and taken care of the ones you love. There’s a whole world out there that you have yet to glimpse. Why not take a cruise? While everyone else is busy chasing their kids around, you can relax and let someone take care of you for a change.

Rent a cottage. If you’re tired of the same old view, consider renting a lake cottage where you can get away from all the hustle and bustle of the world. Invite a few close friends to come celebrate your 50th birthday with you.

Have a laugh. You can always hold the humorous “over the hill” birthday party. Since you know the perks of life past 30 and 40, you can not only laugh at the people who claim you’re over the hill, but take it one step further and go out to a comedy club after the party.

And whatever you do, enjoy!
