Help for ‘Mature’ Skin

October 28, 2009

Ok- it’s true.  I accept that I have “MATURE” skin, but I don’t accept that I have to have skin that looks like my grandmother’s or what I remember her skin to look like!  I guess it’s all about perspective.  Whoever said 53 years of age is old?  Well, I  did when I was in my 30’s!  Go figure… now that I’m 53 I bet some 20 year old out there is  thinking 53 – wow that is old!   Here’s a makeup tip for those of us with “mature” skin.  Use a foundation primer! It’s that simple.  A primer is a product that is right for all ages, but does it’s a definite “must have” for anyone in the over 45 group.  Here’s why; your foundation primer is the first step to minimizing pores and softening wrinkles, and yes, we do have them at 50 and older.  They actually start in our 20’s!   ok- it’s time to shop for your primer.  Be sure to test it on the back of your hand.  If you can’t test it, don’t buy it!  A good primer should deliver a velvety finish while creating the illusion of smoother skin. Be sure the primer leaves a matte finish.  The matte finish is important because the primer creates a barrier between the skin and your foundation so the true color of your foundation can be seen.  You don’t want a tint from the primer to affect the color of your foundation.  Remember to apply the primer with a cosmetic wedge to get it evenly distributed.  Be a bit generous” with your primer around the eyes and over any frown or laugh lines.  It will help soften the lines and smooth out the entire canvas of your face.    Hope this helps… I know I am never without my primer!
