Blush Your Best!
Having a hard time finding your best blush? Working with many women going through shades that are either too light, too cool, too dark, too pink, or just way too orange, I have found a solution that works quite nicely. The solution is to go with your body’s true undertone. Doing this will always make sure that your blush color is always cohesive with your body. Now I know what your saying “That is all well and good but how do you find your under tone and what is my under tone?” It is as easy as making a fist, not in frustration, but to choose your tone. The redness that appears in your knuckles is your true undertone. When choosing your blush hold your fist next to your blush and find a tone that mimics the redness in this area. Everyone is different; you may find a red, pink, coral, and occasionally a brown. I see a lot of women trying to use their bronzers as blush and, for a mature woman, this can be dangerous. What this does is give you a gaunt look and sink the cheeks in to the face adding unneeded age.
Now lets talk about blush placement. To give a much needed lift to the face, place your blush on the bone above the apples of the cheek. This is where children naturally blush and gives a great lift to the face! A lot of times we have been taught to put our blush low on the apples of the cheek, this can actually drop the face and give too much of a blush. Another thing I see is blushing on the side of the cheek “The Nike swoosh” This is a form of contouring that will chisel out the face making you appear harsh and unnatural. So when in doubt make a fist, get your blush brush, and place it high.
Happy Blushing ladies!
