Thick hair and lustrous lashes are generally considered an essential part of what we think of as beautiful, no matter what your age. So if you feel your hair and lashes aren’t quite as full and thick as they used to be, try going the natural route. Most natural tips and tricks for fuller, thicker hair garner amazing results, but if they don’t, at least you won’t have permanently altered eye color (an actual side effect of a prescription lash thickener!) or a bald spot where your extension got yanked out! Everyone is different, so use that whole trial and error process to determine which treatments work best for you.

Olive Oil: Oh olive oil, is there anything you can’t do? Slather the stuff on your hair and into your scalp, leave it on overnight, and wash it out the following morning. The oil is said to help clean clogged hair follicles that can result in thinner strands.

Biotin: Also called Vitamin H, biotin is a B-complex vitamin that supports healthy hair and eyelash growth. Though biotin is becoming a common ingredient in skin and hair care products, you can also consume the vitamin by eating more legumes, nuts, egg yolks, and sardines.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is right up there with olive oil in terms of endless uses and benefits, which include contributing to thicker hair. Massage your scalp with warm coconut oil to increase blood circulation to the hair and make hair stronger, healthier, and thicker.

Castor Oil: Rub castor oil on your eyelashes before you go to bed each night and see if your lashes aren’t thicker within a few weeks. Castor oil contains Omega-9 fatty acids, which contributes to healthier hair and lashes. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes; the stuff can also be used to help over-plucked eyebrows grow back!

Eggs: Restore hair health and thickness by using a wide tooth comb to apply a beaten raw egg into hair. Eggs are full of hair-healthy vitamins including A, D, and E, and are ideal for strengthening brittle, thinning hair.

Vitamin E: Apply vitamin E to lashes to keep them looking thick and lovely. Vitamin E also works as a natural skin soother and takes the red out of super-irritated skin.
