I hope 2016 will be a great year for all of the readers of our online magazine.

This month in our magazine we are going to concentrate on getting in better shape both physically and mentally.  As we age this becomes more important.  Now that the holidays are over and the bloat from all the sugar I ate is slowing going away (hopefully you were more disciplined than I was), there is no better time than the new year to start doing this. We plan on having articles on obesity, fitness, keeping your brain in shape as you age and things you should and shouldn’t eat.  We will also feature an article on appropriate fitness clothes for the over 40 crowd.  i see a lot of ads on TV with celebrities like Kate Hudson and others who have fitness lines.  Kate Hudson is in pretty perfect shape so she looks great in the midriff tops and low cut tight fitness pants she sells; however, me wearing these items is not such a good look.

In addition to getting in better shape, we will feature an article about the sizing in clothing.  Have you noticed that as we get bigger the sizes seem to get smaller?  I noticed this recently when I went shopping for jeans and my regular size was now too big.  There is no way I’ve lost weight especially last month so I figured the sizing is off.  I’ve noticed this in many stores I’ve gone to.  I would bet it is some sort of psychological thing the stores are doing to make people think they are smaller than they are.  After all who doesn’t want to think they have gone down a size.  Our fashion writer, Naakai Addy, is looking into this.

We will feature these articles and columns from our usual contributors Lorraine Duffy Merkl, Kitt Walsh and Jill Matlow.  Jill is writing something about taking risks as you age which should be interesting to us all.  Of course, Dr. Stanwix will also offer some good advice.  If you would like to write to him, just send an email to drstanwix@fiftyisthenewfifty.com.

As always, if there is something you would like to see included in our magazine feel free to email me at editor@fiftyisthenewfifty.com.  I always like hearing from our readers.

Have a great month!

Beth
