In preparation for my 65th birthday, I’ve spent $800+ on Juvederm Cosmetic Filler, $300+  on Botox, close to $600 at Bergdorf’s salon for an exciting, new & sexy cut and color.  I am not just “not going gentle” – I’m going down swinging.

I also lost 35 pounds. I weigh less now than when I was 17.  I swear to you, I look better now than I ever have in my life.

Of course, nothing is magic. Age does show. Last summer, on the Long Island Railroad schlep to Fire Island, I went from “can I help you with that, Honey” to “can I help you with that, Ma’am” – a very tough transition.

Anyway, last night I was at a huge, swanky fund raiser. Very big hedge fund money behind this charity.  They took over The Capitol on Bowery {remember that place from the height of Disco?}. Charged $300 a person. Filled the place with free food, free booze and sophisticated, hot Honeys in perfect little black dresses equipped with iPads to swipe credit cards for donations.  Very lucrative.  My husband was the headliner.  He is a wonderful musician – dead center Blues – and he had the place hopping.  I got in for free as a VIP.

So there I was, mingling and looking so gorgeous even a waitress stopped me and said “You have real style.” This guy started chatting me up – nothing serious, just pleasant.  After a while, he turned to leave with his group and he said “have a nice evening.”

I swear I meant to say “Same to you, Sir.”

What came out – “Same to you, Son.”
